Pomai, my parents and I enjoyed Michal very much. Sisters will go there with their dates next time. I will also. Crisp Fried Frog Legs done just right for dad for he like frog legs. Mom had Sauleed Foie Gras and I Escargots which we all share each other Starter it was wonderful.

We like the Lavosh with herbed butter instead of breads for it different and the Hardy Hawaiian Bouillabisse for dad made him get a recipe to make it at home now too. Mom had what she saw on your last entry and got to try it she loved it very much the Potatgo wrap Moi with Tobiko Aioli Sauce. Of course we all share in tasting each dishes.

Desserts were Chocolate Cake for dad Pineapple Mac Nut Cheesecake for mom and for me I orders the Framboise Flambe Sweet Maui Pineapple with Raspberries. The Flambe made so special way to end wonderful dining at Michel.

I’m glad you like The Alley as much as we did. I can give a thumbs up to the Furikake Salmon bowl and definitely to the garlic fries!

if you try dessert, try the lemon crunch cake. kinda sweet (and im not a huge dessert person), but it is FAMOUS for a reason. Super moist, with that fresh lemon flavor throughout….yum
oh and the fried calamari and garlic fries are awesome pupus when you’re hanging out and bowling.

Kristin, that is KRAZY!

Her explanation of the kraze for Kit Kats in Japan is very interesting:

"One of the reasons for KitKats' immense popularity in Japan probably escapes many visitors. Kitto katsu (きっと勝つ), a Japanese phrase which translates as "definitely win", is very similar to the Japanese pronunciation of the brand name, which is *kitto katto*. This has made KitKats extremely popular during high school/university entrance exam season as a good luck charm for students taking the tests."

I think I'll have to start selling Kit Kats to Japanese tourists walking down Kalakaua avenue in Waikiki for a successful vacation in Hawaii! lol

Another great post! The fries were very good (and 4 adults couldn’t finish the large – though I would be tempted to drizzle with my take-out bottle of truffle oil) and the shoyu pork was very hearty. The Mrs chicken was a little dried-out and the loco-moco patty was medium-well (and beef NEEDS pink) though the meal was very good, overall. Since you’re originally Kaneohe, have you posted on Kin Wah?

hiyn_boy, mahalo for that. And don't worry, there's many more hole-in-the-walls around this island to conquer! Enough for a lifetime of blogging it seems.

Kelike, great choice on the Escargot. Let us know how it goes on your experience at Michel's.

Ryan, as you probably know,Michel's wine list is much more extensive than the list I have pictured. There's an entire menu dedicated to bottled wine under that.

Regardless of what food I'm pairing with, as long it's a red wine, I'm happy. Not one for white or blush.

Kat, I must say, Michel's is almost addicting. We both fell in love with the place and can't wait to return, which we soon will!

Have been there on several occasions (and GM Philip Shaw remembered us on the 2nd visit) and the service & food (overall) never failed to impress. Something about tableside presentation and tuxedoed servers adds to the ambience (along with wine service in line with the Court of Master Sommeliers)… since our last visit about 2 yrs ago, maybe will take the Mrs for her B-Day this year.
