Coverage: 35th Annual Okinawan Festival

The 35th Annual Okinawan Festival took place at Kapiolani Park on Labor Day Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, September 2 & 3, 2017. This, after having to cancel last year’s 34th Annual Okinawan Festival due to the threat of Hurricane Lester.

Thankfully Lester didn’t hit us, but it came close. However the cancellation of the 2-day event left lots of people who pre-purchased scrips up for refunds, countless unsold merchandise (especially t-shirts), as well as prepared food that had to be given away. So this year’s festival was an especially important event to make up for those losses, being this event is a fundraiser for the Hawaii United Okinawan Association.

That said, the Okinawan Festival always outdoes every other cultural festival when it comes to popularity and overall crowd count. In a word, it’s EPIC.

Following is photo coverage of the event, all unedited, taken with my new Galaxy S8+. Tanoshinde onegaishimasu (enjoy). ;-)

Howzit Diner E! Long time no see! I met your brother Harold and his wife Lavern at the Country Store on Saturday. There’s a photo of them in the set above.

Mark, I didn’t try the Andagi, but did get a couple Andadogs. So good.
