Yelp Honolulu Elite Event: 100 Sails

Yelp Honolulu Elite members forged ahead into 2017 this past Monday evening, January 23rd, at the first Elite event of the new year, held at 100 Sails Restaurant & Bar in the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki.

A private room partially open to the mauka side of the restaurant was set-up to accommodate the Yelp Party, with a limited amount of invitations given out exclusively to select Elite members, sans guests.

Food and drinks included samples of their new ala carte menu items chosen and prepared by the Chef, along with several signature cocktails, house wine and draft beer.

Fun and games included mingling with fellow Yelpers who had the same boat and square or circle color issued on a separate tag with our name tags. a prize giveaway from Hawaii Prince Hotel (2 prizes), as well as a “Real reviews by real people” Yelp review contest between split teams of 10 members each.

Following are my photos from the event, of which apparently I missed the best (untouched food) shots, due to the fact I was out in the restaurant buffet area taking photos of that entire “spread” in the early part of the evening. Which of course will be featured in a follow-up post. Anyway, this is what I got from the Yelp Elite Party in the adjoining private room. Enjoy. ;-)

Summing it up for the food, the Baked Brie and Big Island Steak were my two faves. As described in ingredients, that’s exactly how fantastic they were.  I didn’t get to try the Tako Tacos, as that came out when I was in the other room taking photos. The Mojito seemed to be the most popular drink, as most folks had that in hand at any given time. I’d second that.

The party vibe was friendly and down-to-earth as every Yelp Elite Event I’ve been to in the past. Yelpers are like an extended ohana when we meet in person, which is what makes this community so great. I guess we all share a common bond (guilty conscience) of being foodie fanatics, eager to take pics and (over) analyze the taste of food (and service) like nobody’s business. lol

Mahalo to Emi Hart, community manager of Yelp Honolulu for once again hosting a well-organized and fun Elite Event. You rock! Also to the staff of Hawaii Prince Hotel for being so gracious and generous with our food and and drinks that night, as well as top notch hospitality!

Please note, I’ll be following up on this post with a complete photographic walkthrough of 100 Sails Dinner Buffet spread that was available that same evening of the Yelp event. Coming soon!
