Coverage: Pearl Harbor 75th Anniversary Parade

Time to take another foodie break as we pay respect and honor the veterans of Pearl Harbor that began on that infamous day of December 7th, 1941. This entire month was filled with events around Oahu in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, not just to reflect on the past, but to look forward to a brighter tomorrow. Today, Japan is one of the United States’ closest allies, as we share a common bond through forgiveness, friendship, unity and economic strength.

That said, yesterday, December 7, 2016, the Pearl Harbor 75th Anniversary Parade took place in Waikiki, starting at Fort DeRussy, making its way up Saratoga Road, on to Kalakaua, and ending at Monsarrat, where participants in the parade — including most importantly, all of the last living veterans of the attack on Pearl Harbor; the oldest being 104! — enjoyed a special concert held for them at the Waikiki Shell.

Following are photos I took at the start of the Pearl Harbor 75th Anniversary Parade in Waikiki at Fort DeRussy, along with some from the parade itself on Kalakaua Avenue. Note, the parade started at 6pm due to so many other events that took place yesterday, so it was already getting dark. I did my best with what light I had. Enjoy.
