The “Another Great Year in Hawaii” Waikiki Block Festival took place this past Saturday, January 2, 2016. Like most Waikiki block parties held on the street of Kalakaua Avenue, it started from Lewers Street, spanning all the way up Diamond Head to Kaiulani Avenue, where the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa is. Other Waikiki block parties have gone even further up Kalakaua, as far as “The Wall” at Kapuhulu Avenue.
The “Another Great Year in Hawaii” Festival was organized by Millwood ‘Ohana Productions, who have been putting on frequent, quite “epic” block parties in Waikiki for several years now. According to their home page events calendar for 2016, they will be holding a Waikiki block festival every month this year!
Following are some of the food booths and attractions at the event. Enjoy. ;-)
Nosh’ Pao De Quiejo is a unique Brazilian street snack that are bun-sized pastry-like bread made from Tapioca flour that’s baked on site, then stuffed with your choice of flavored melted cheese from the dispensers in the next photo.

I actually arrived at this block party on the late side, a.k.a. “Hawaiian time”, around 8pm, being I wasn’t feeling good earlier. That said, my appetite was pretty much ZERO, so didn’t try any of the many ono looking ‘kine grindz you’ve just seen that were offered. Next month hopefully I’ll be more up to snuff, appetite-wise and so I can sample and share what they tasted like. Still, it was yet another successful event by Millwood ‘Ohana Productions. Mahalo!
